AI online store builder or a designer: which suits your store?

An AI online store builder can give you a homepage, product layouts and text in minutes, and that speed is real. The question is not whether the tool works, but whether what it produces is enough for the store you want to run, and what is still left for you to do after it finishes.

What does an AI builder actually do?

It turns a short description of your shop into a first draft: a layout, colours, sample sections, product descriptions and headings. Some tools sit inside an existing store platform, others create the whole site in their own system. In both cases you get a starting point quickly, and you can change the draft by asking again or by editing it by hand.

What does it leave to you?

The parts that make a store sell are still yours. Real product photos, accurate prices and stock, shipping rules for your cities, payment methods your customers trust, return and privacy policies, and the way your categories are organised. A generated draft cannot know any of these. It fills the gaps with plausible placeholders, and every placeholder has to be found and replaced before a single order arrives.

Where does the result usually fall short?

In identity and in detail. Generated layouts tend to look like many other generated layouts, because they are built from common patterns. Arabic text may read as translated, and right-to-left spacing may need fixing by hand. The product page, the cart and the checkout are where buyers hesitate, and they need deliberate decisions about what to show, in what order, and on a small phone screen.

Who is an AI builder right for?

It suits you when you want to test an idea with a handful of products, when your budget is very small, or when you enjoy doing things yourself and have time to check every page. It is also useful as a sketch: generating a few directions can help you see what you like before you talk to anyone, so your brief becomes clearer.

Who is a designer right for?

A brand that already sells elsewhere and needs the store to look like the brand, a catalogue with many categories or variants, or a business that cannot afford a confusing checkout. A designer asks about your customers, plans the pages around their questions, and takes responsibility for the details a tool will not notice. You pay for judgement and for someone who answers when something breaks.

What should you check before choosing?

Ask where the store will live and who owns it: can you move it to another platform later, or is it tied to the tool? Check that Arabic and English both display correctly on a phone. Try a full test order from product to confirmation. And decide who will maintain the store after launch, because a generated site still needs someone to update it.

How I handle it

I design every store in Figma first, and you approve the design before the build starts. I build on Salla, Shopify or WooCommerce, then hand you the dashboard so you edit products, prices and photos yourself. Support lasts 180 days from launch, and for the first seven days you can stop the project and get your payment back in full. Stores are priced after the brief. Tell me about your shop and I reply within 24 hours.
