How to make a website yourself: the path that actually works

If you are wondering how to make a website yourself, the honest answer is that you do not need to be a programmer. You need a clear order of steps, one good tool, and the patience to build one small site from start to finish before you try anything bigger.
What do you need before you start?
Three things. A domain, which is your address on the internet. Hosting, which is the computer that keeps your site online. And a way to build the pages. For most beginners that last part is WordPress, because it is free to use, widely used for every kind of site, and lets you build pages visually instead of writing code line by line.
Why WordPress and not a site builder?
A site builder is quick to start, but you rent it: the design, the features and sometimes your content stay inside their system. With WordPress the site is yours, you can move it to any host, and the skills you learn are the same ones used to build real client sites. That matters if you want this to become a job one day, not only a hobby.
What are the steps, in order?
Pick the domain and hosting, install WordPress, choose a light theme, then build the pages with a visual editor such as Elementor: home, about, services and contact. Add your real text and images, check every page on a phone, and only then publish. Most beginners get lost because they jump between these steps instead of finishing them one by one.
Which mistakes slow beginners down?
Installing many plugins on the first day, buying a heavy theme because it looked nice in a demo, and copying a design without understanding why it works. Another common one is learning from scattered short videos, each using a different method. One complete path, followed to the end, teaches more than a hundred random tips.
How long does it take to learn?
It depends on how often you practise, not on talent. Someone who builds along with each lesson, instead of only watching, usually reaches a first complete site much sooner than they expected. The real test is simple: can you build a small site again, alone, without the lesson open? If yes, you have learned it.
How I teach it
I teach this in a free course called WordPress from zero: 14 lessons, about 7 hours, in Arabic, where I build on screen and you build with me, from domain and hosting to a full practical site, without code. It is the first course of a bundle of four at MK Academy. Start the free course, and if you would rather have the site built for you, message me.
