Professional online store design: is the offer worth a yes?

Professional online store design: is the offer worth a yes?

By the time you are comparing offers for professional online store design, you have usually chosen a platform and a designer you like. What is left is the decision itself: does this offer cover what a working store needs, or will the gaps appear after you pay?

Does the offer show the design before the build?

A professional offer says how you will see the store before anything is built. Ask whether you get a full design of the home page, a category page, a product page and the cart, on both desktop and phone, and whether you approve it before development starts. If the only preview is a theme demo filled with sample products, you are approving a promise, not a design.

Is the store yours from day one?

Check whose name is on the store account, the domain and any paid apps. They should be yours, created with your email, with the designer added as a collaborator. That way you never depend on one person to log in to your own business, and changing designers later does not mean starting again. If the offer does not mention ownership, ask about it before you agree.

Who enters products, payment and shipping?

Many disputes start here. Read whether the offer includes adding all your products or only a few samples, and who connects payment and delivery companies. Payment accounts usually need your own business documents, so part of that work is yours anyway. A clear offer lists who does what and what you must hand over, so nothing waits on a misunderstanding.

Will you be able to edit the store yourself?

A store changes every week: new products, prices, banners and offers. Ask whether you will edit these from the dashboard without calling anyone, and whether you get a short walkthrough or recording after launch. A design that looks great but breaks every time you change a banner is not professional, however good it looked on approval day.

What happens after launch?

Ask what support covers, for how long, and from which day it starts. Good support fixes what breaks and what does not work as agreed, and answers questions about editing. Also ask what happens if you change your mind early in the project, because a clear refund rule tells you how confident the designer is in the way they work.

How I handle it

Every store I build is designed in Figma and approved by you before the build starts, on Salla, Shopify or WooCommerce. You get the dashboard and edit products, prices and banners yourself. Support lasts 180 days from launch, and in the first seven days of a project you can stop it and get your payment back in full. Store prices are set after the brief. Send me what you sell and I will reply within 24 hours.
