Web design for your business: a website or social media only?

Many owners ask whether web design is worth it when their business already lives on social media. Accounts are free, quick and full of followers, so a website can feel like an extra. The two do different jobs, though, and knowing which job you need is what decides the answer.

What do social media accounts do well?

They are good at reach and conversation. A post can be seen by people who never searched for you, and a message thread feels personal and fast. For a new activity testing an idea, or a business that sells mostly through direct messages, accounts alone can carry the first stage without any site at all.

What can a website do that accounts cannot?

A website is the place you control. The layout, the order of information, the address and the content are yours, and they do not change when a platform changes its rules or its feed. It can also appear in search results when someone looks for your service, which accounts rarely do for specific questions.

Does a website make you look more trustworthy?

For many buyers, yes, especially for larger decisions. A clear site with your services, contact details, policies and real photos answers the questions a careful client asks before paying. An account that shows only recent posts makes them scroll and guess. The site does not create trust; it makes the evidence easier to find.

When can you wait before building a site?

When you are still testing what you sell, when your clients come only from referrals, or when you do not yet have the text and photos a site needs. Building too early leaves a site that says very little. It is better to collect your content, photos and common questions first, then build the site around them.

Can the two work together?

They work best together. Accounts bring attention, and the website turns that attention into an action: a call, a booking, a WhatsApp message or an order. Linking every account to the same site also gives you one place to update when something changes, instead of editing many profiles and hoping all of them stay accurate.

How I handle it

I design business sites in Figma first, and you approve the design before I build it on WordPress with Elementor Pro or in custom code. You receive the dashboard and edit the text, images and posts yourself. Prices start from $100 for a brochure site, and support lasts 180 days from the day the site goes live. Tell me about your business and where your clients find you today.
