Company profile PDF or a website?

Clients often ask me whether they still need a site when they already have a designed profile. The question of company profile vs website is really a question of who reads each one, and when.

What is a company profile good at?

A profile is a document you hand to someone who already asked for it. It travels well: attached to an email, sent on WhatsApp, printed for a meeting or included in a tender. It reads in a fixed order, so you control the story from the first page to the last. For a formal introduction to a known buyer, that is exactly what you want.

Where does a PDF fall short?

A PDF cannot be found by someone who has never heard of you. It is awkward on a phone, where the reader has to pinch and scroll sideways. And the moment you send it, that copy is frozen: a new branch, a new service or a changed phone number means a new file, while old copies keep circulating with the old details.

What does a website do that a profile cannot?

A site is there before anyone asks. It can be found through search, opened from a link in your email signature, and read comfortably on any screen. A visitor goes straight to the part they care about instead of paging through everything. When something changes you edit it once, and everyone sees the current version. It also gives people a way to contact you on the spot.

Do I need both?

Often, yes, because they meet the buyer at different moments. The site introduces you to people who are looking; the profile follows up with people who are deciding. Some fields, such as contracting and supply, still expect a profile in every submission. If you have to start with one, start with the one your next buyers will actually ask for, and plan the other.

How do I keep the two consistent?

Write the content once and use it twice. The same description of the company, the same list of services, the same project names and the same photos should appear in both. Put the profile on the site as a download so that people always get the latest copy, and put the site address on the cover of the profile. Two versions of your story make buyers doubt both.

How I handle it

What I build is the site, and a profile, if you have one, is the best starting material for it. Every page is drawn in Figma around that content, reshaped for the screen, and you approve the design before the build. Afterwards you edit the text and images yourself from the dashboard, so the site never falls behind the way an old file does. Support lasts 180 days, counted from the day the site goes live. Send me your current profile and tell me who usually asks for it.
