Salla store design cost: what you are paying for

Salla store design cost: what you are paying for

When people ask about Salla store design cost, two different bills get mixed together. One goes to Salla for the platform, and the other goes to whoever designs and sets up your store. This article is about the second one, and what sits inside it.

What do I pay Salla, and what do I pay the designer?

Salla is a hosted platform, so you pay it a subscription and it runs the store engine, the hosting and the updates. The designer is paid for a separate thing: making that engine look and behave like your store. Check the current plans on the Salla site yourself, because what a plan allows can affect how far the design can go.

Is it a ready theme or a designed storefront?

This decides most of the figure. Choosing a Salla theme and setting it up with your logo, colours and content is the lighter job. Designing the storefront around your products and brand, and then shaping the theme to match, is the heavier one. How much a theme can be reshaped depends on the theme and your plan, so ask before you agree.

What does setup include?

A store is not ready when it looks ready. Categories have to be arranged, payment and delivery options switched on and checked, order messages reviewed, policy pages added. Much of this happens inside the Salla admin and is not complicated, but it takes care and time. A quote should say whether it stops at appearance or continues through to a store that can take an order.

Who adds the products?

Every product needs a name, description, photos, options and a price. With a small catalogue many owners do this themselves once shown how. With a large one it becomes a job of its own. Decide which you prefer and say so when asking for a quote, because it changes the amount of work more than nearly anything else.

Are banners and product images part of it?

They should be discussed, because a store with strong layout and weak images still looks weak. Banners for the home page, category images and consistent product photos are design work. Some designers include a set of banners. Others treat all graphics as separate. Ask what is included and what you would need to supply.

What else can move the figure?

A second language, moving products from an older store, a brand identity that does not exist yet and has to be made first, and a fixed launch date. None of these is unusual. Each is simply more work, and it is better named at the start than discovered in the middle of the project when the schedule is already set.

How I handle it

I design the storefront in Figma first, and you approve it before anything is built on Salla. After handover you manage products, prices, text and images yourself. Support runs 180 days from the day the store goes live, and for the first seven days of the project you can stop it and get your payment back in full. Tell me what you sell and whether your products are already photographed.
