Starting an online store in Saudi Arabia: from idea to first order

If you have decided to sell online, the steps to start an online store in Saudi Arabia are less about technology and more about order: deciding a few things early so the rest goes smoothly. This is the sequence I suggest, from the first decision to the day the first real order arrives.
Step one: what will you sell, and to whom?
Write down the first products you will launch with, not the full catalogue you dream of. Then describe the customer: which cities, which questions they ask before buying, and whether they shop mostly on their phone. These answers decide the categories, the language of the store and the payment and shipping options you need.
Step two: confirm the official requirements
Selling online in Saudi Arabia comes with registration and documentation requirements, and they can change. Check what applies to your activity with the official government channels or a qualified advisor before launch, not after. Keep the documents ready, because payment and shipping providers usually ask for them when you open an account.
Step three: choose the platform
Salla is widely used in the Saudi market and is hosted for you. Shopify is also hosted and suits stores that sell across borders. WooCommerce runs on your own WordPress hosting and gives you full control with full responsibility. Choose based on who will run the store day to day and where your customers are, not on a list of features.
Step four: prepare the content
Clear product photos on a consistent background, names and descriptions written for your customer, accurate prices and stock, and the policy pages: shipping, returns and privacy. Have the legal wording of the policies reviewed by a qualified professional. Missing content is the most common reason a store launch is delayed.
Step five: design, build and connect
The design should be approved before building, so changes happen on screens rather than in the live store. Then the store is built, and payment, shipping and notifications are connected. Each one needs its own account and its own approval from the provider, so start those requests early.
Step six: test, launch and watch
Place a full test order on a phone: choose a product, pay, receive the confirmation and check the order in the dashboard. Test a cancellation and a return as well. After launch, watch the first orders closely and fix small issues quickly, because the first customers remember how the store treated them.
How I handle it
I design the store in Figma first and you approve it before the build starts. I build on Salla, Shopify or WooCommerce, then hand you the dashboard to edit products, prices and posts yourself. Support lasts 180 days from launch, and for the first seven days you can stop the project and get your payment back in full. Stores are priced after the brief. Tell me about your store and I reply within 24 hours.
