Professional WordPress website design: what to check before accepting

Professional WordPress website design is easy to promise and easy to check, if you know where to look. Before you accept the site and close the project, a short review tells you whether you are getting a finished site or a nice looking draft. These are the checks I would do in your place.
Does it match the design you approved?
Open the approved design next to the live site and compare page by page: layout, colours, fonts, spacing and text. Small differences add up. A professional build follows the approved design closely, and any change should have a reason that was explained to you, not discovered by you.
How does it behave on the phone?
Most of your visitors will see the site on a phone first. Open every page on your own phone, scroll to the end, open the menu, tap every button and read the text without zooming. Nothing should run off the screen, overlap or be too small to tap. Check a tablet too if your customers use one.
Do the forms and contact buttons really work?
Send a message through every form and confirm it arrives where it should. Tap the phone number, the WhatsApp button and the email link and make sure each one opens correctly. A site that looks perfect but loses messages is the most expensive kind of mistake, because you never see what you lost.
Can you edit it yourself?
Ask for a short walkthrough, then try alone: change a sentence, replace an image, add a post or a page. If every small change needs the designer, the site is not finished for you. You should also know where the main settings live and who to ask when something looks wrong.
What do you own at handover?
Confirm that the domain, the hosting and the WordPress admin account are in your name or that you hold full access, and that any paid theme or plugin licences are clear. Ask whether a backup exists and how to restore it. These details are boring until the day you need them.
How I handle it
Every site I build starts in Figma and is built only after you approve the design, on WordPress with Elementor Pro. At handover you get the dashboard and edit text, images and posts yourself, and 180 days of support start from the day the site goes live, covering anything that breaks or behaves differently from what we agreed. Tell me about your site and I will send you what I need to start.
